The Metropolitan Fire Station in Cape Coast on Wednesday, 11th March 2026 at 1028hrs responded to a road traffic collision at Kotokuraba.

The rescue team from the Cape Coast Metro Fire Station arrived at the scene at 1032hrs and observed that a Toyota Echo taxi cab with registration number GW 5934-14 and a Samsung Yamouzine truck with registration number CR 487-18 had been involved in a collision. Both vehicles were descending the Kotokuraba bypass slope to join the Mfantsipim–Kotokuraba stretch of the road when the accident occurred in front of GT Bank.

Four persons (three males and one female) sustained various degrees of injuries. They were rescued and transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Ewim Polyclinic before the arrival of the fire personnel.

The Toyota Echo taxi cab was completely damaged, while the Samsung Yamouzine truck sustained partial damage to its engine compartment.
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained but information from eyewitness suggests brake failure on the part of the Yamouzine truck.

Firefighters cleared the debris and moved the crashed vehicles to the roadside to create space for the free flow of traffic.
