The Muslim community of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Central Regional Command, on Wednesday, 11th March 2026 organized its annual Iftar at the Regional Headquarters in Cape Coast.
The gathering brought together officers, men and women of the Service,both Muslims and christians, as well as invited guests, to observe the breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan and to promote unity, understanding and fellowship among personnel.

In her address, the Central Regional Fire Officer (RFO), ACFOI Merinder Mary Attigah-Mensah, commended the Muslim personnel of the Service for their discipline, dedication and commitment to duty. She said Ramadan teaches self discipline which is a core value in the service. She encouraged officers to continue to uphold the values of unity, professionalism and service to humanity which define the Ghana National Fire Service.

The Regional Commander also emphasized the importance of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence within the Service, noting that such gatherings help strengthen the bond of togetherness among personnel despite their diverse backgrounds.
The program featured a brief exhortation by the Guest Speaker, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Shafik Yahaya, the ASWAJ Deputy Central Regional Chief Imam, who shared words of encouragement on faith, unity and service.

The Chairman, DCFO (RTD) Alhaji Nuhu Jibreel in his closing remarks, thanked the leadership of the Central Regional Command for such an initiative as it bridges the religiois gap in the institution and foster tolerance and hence unity.

The event concluded with the breaking of the fast, sharing of meal and prayers for peace, unity and the continued success of the Ghana National Fire Service.
