SAMMY GENFI PAY TRIBUTE TO HIS MENTOR

I attended a funeral of an elderly man I knew from childhood today and after his coffin was finally buried, I wept like a baby and felt a sudden breeze.

For the respect I have for him and his family, I will keep his name private.

This was a very good friend of mine that I knew from childhood even though we weren’t age mates and I grew up with his words of advice and counselling.

He was a retired teacher and was very intelligent, he was full of experiences about life, could engage people in conversation for hours and still present his submissions so well, a good mathematician and a philosopher.

While growing up, there was no decision I had to take in relation to my academic laurels that I made without his consent. He was a pillar and the outcome of his advice counts on who I am to. A true results of this sage I should say is who you see today in administration.

Today, he is no more and many of his age mates as well. This made me moody throughout the afternoon funeral observations. Because questions started throbbing into my heads like snow, I was out of this world and I answered them myself bringing myself back into reality.

The sweet memories we share, the good and the ugly. His numerous advice that brought me to my toes and the hilarious moments that turned me into a balloon.

It is true, our loved ones will one day leave us and we will one day leave our loved ones as well. Life has its own way of humbling us but we mostly ignore.

The time is ticking so it’s not on our side, every minute counts and so we must live it well and live it for others also so that even in our demise our memories will never be forgotten.
