The organizer for “GHANA MUST WORK” demonstration organized by the NDC Deputy National Deputy Organizer Chief Hamilton Biney to remind the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Alhaji Bawumia of his numerous campaign promises he made prior to 2016 election and that of NPP’s second term election in 2020 election. Ghanaians recalled vividly how the Vice President Bawumia held series of public lectures from one tertiary institution to another trumpeting his economic prowess that has the key to transform Ghana’s economy over night. Ghanaians are very sad that almost six years of President Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government, the economic hardship keeps worsening on daily basis under the so called self-acclaimed competent economic managers. Ghanaians are worried most especially as they could hardly hear from the Vice President Bawumia to address the citizens on what the economic management team is doing to ease the severe untold hardship the NPP has brought upon Ghanaians by the so called “Solid Economic Management Team” headed by Dr. Bawumia himself. Chief Biney decided to pickets the Vice President Bawumia’s office to present petition to remind the Vice President of his promises to Ghanaians. He wants to remind him of the excruciating economic hardship his so called “Solid Economic Management Team” is killing the citizens therefore he must act quick before the worse happens.

Chief Biney, the organizer wrote to the Ghana Police Service to satisfy the public order act but interestingly, the police nicodemously ran to court to seek restraining order to prevent the organizer from holding the picketing. Chief Hamilton Biney also went to court to set the restraining order aside to enable him embark on the picketing. The court prescribed guidelines with which the organizer should follow to demonstrate. The guidelines detailed the starting point, routes, total number of persons and the number of media men to cover it. In the course of the demonstration a gentleman wearing one of the T-Shirt the demonstrators riding motorbike recklessly ahead of the peaceful demonstrators. The organizer quickly identified him as a police officer engaging in such reckless driving as a demonstrator which hasn’t been permitted to be part of demonstrators. Chief Hamilton Biney reported the man to the police to arrest him but the police only shepherded the gentleman to leave the scene without causing his arrest. The failure of the police to arrest the gentleman infuriated the organizer to allegedly accuse the police for deliberately planting a police officer among peaceful demonstrators to cause trouble so that they can turn round to arrest the organizer for prosecution. The police hasn’t responded to the accusation leveled against the security for planting infiltrator (police officer) to cause trouble during the peaceful demonstration.

It is baffling that Ghana Police Service for almost 48 hours after the accusation, the police under the leadership of IGP Dr. Akufo-Addo Dampare whose administration is noted for writing thesis in response to issues that come against the service. IGP Dr. Akufo Dampare has tried to rebrand and reposition the image of the police through timely press releases to update the public of activities of the service. Ghanaians are calling on the IGP to clarify the service stands on why his men failed to arrest the alleged police officer infiltrator planted among peaceful demonstrators to cause trouble. The Deputy Chief of Staff, Aduamua Bossman also banter wth Chief Biney when he reported the matter to him as the time he met the demonstrators to receive the petition on behalf of the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
