Captain Smart, a broadcast journalist with Onua TV has hinted on Onua Maakye Morning Show that IMF officials have directed President Akufo-Addo’s led government to consider cancellation of Teacher and Nursing Training allowances. He described President Akufo-Addo led government which had earlier described his predecessor Former President John Dramani Mahama when they review these same allowances by intending to replace it with student loan scheme. Then candidate Akufo-Addo and NPP took political advantage of the situation and rode on this to win power. According to the presenter, information emanating from IMF and President Akufo-Addo’s government officials meeting is that, government should pay the arrears of these allowances but should do well to cancel it continuation.

President Akufo-Addo is now in a very tight corner as he finds it very difficult to raise fund to meet these financial obligations. It is also uncomfortable to come and tell Ghanaian teacher and nursing trainees after he had succeeded in gaining the votes to win political power. Ghanaian teacher and nursing trainees should braise themselves for more hardship on campuses as their allowances may be cancelled by Akufo-Addo’s government. He promised these students heaven but now the situation is the opposite.
