The Parish Priest in-charge of St. Joseph Catholic church, Amanful-Cape Coast Rev. Fr. Lawrence Abben Yeboah is calling on father’s not to settle family disputes and misunderstanding by resulting to domestic violence against their spouses in an attempt to address their disputes. He made the appeal when the church marks this year’s father’s day to express appreciation to their immense contributions to building their respective families as the world celebrates the event. As part of the celebration, children in the church put up a short poetry recitals to express their gratitude to their fathers for their continuous Godly fatherly role to their families. The father’s joined Rev. Fr. Lawrence Abben Yeboah to cut cake which was shared among church members to crown the climax of the celebration amidst praises and dance.
Rev. Fr. Lawrence Abben Yeboah went ahead to encourage citizens especially church members to seek counseling support when they are going through challenges in life or with family issues. He is also urging the various churches to setup counseling units to provide counseling support services to society to reduce the high rate of domestic violence and suicidal related cases in the country. He is encouraging Catholic church membership not to hesitate to approach church leadership especially the priests to seek counseling support services to address their challenges. He said if there’s the need to arrange for clinical psychologists to give further support services to address their challenges, the church is ready to offer that to the church.
Madam Emelia Woode used the celebration to call on women to support their husbands to play their complementary role to their husbands. She commended father’s for their support in their upkeep of their families. She also admonished children to respect their fathers irrespective of situations in the family. They shouldn’t disrespect their fathers because they have neglected their fatherly responsibilities.
Mrs. Anamua-Mensah speaking to GhanaBa News commended father’s for their supportive role and continue to appeal to them to keep the good work up. She urged women to released that husbands husbands add great values to women in our Ghanaian societies. When father’s provide for the families they should let their also know role the father’s are playing in the upkeep of the family.
Mrs. Philomena Arthur concluded by urging father’s to be tolerance and transparent to their wives so they can manage the family. She said families without father’s lack many things and makes life difficult. She prayed that God bless their work so they can continue to play their Godly fatherly role.
