The Central Regional Manager for Chamber of Commerce Benedicta Anita Mensah has commended government for taking decision to support business setups in wake of Covid-19. According to her, several businesses have suffered in this Coronavirus pandemic. The support will go a long way to bring back those businesses that are affected. She is appealing to managers of the fund not to politicize the fund. She wants the fund to be given to businesses with right capacity to use the fund to turn round their businesses so that they can pay back the loan. The Chamber is also advocating for soft loan to complement this fund. The Covid-19 has really affected hospitality and aviation industries with severe adverse impact on their operations. The activities of these businesses will have negative impact on Ghana’s economy.
The Chamber is encouraging local businesses to take advantage of the situation to come back strong to turn the economy round. The Chamber has pledged to do everything possible to help businesses with the right capacity to enable them turn around their businesses after Covid-19. The Chamber will assist businesses with innovative ideas and initiatives to transform their businesses. They are believing that this tragedy will motivate Ghanaian businesses to move from import dependency to export. It is exportation that will help create jobs and employment for the youth of this country. The Chamber is urging local businesses to take advantage of this situation to use our local resources to go into manufacturing. The Chamber hopes that the fund will be release on time to local businesses so they do not to go into liquidation.
