The Deputy Ministry for Trade and Industry who doubled as the Member of Parliament for New Juaben North constituency Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi has lied on national television when he tried to do damage control of earlier statement he made on TV3 Morning Show which attracted heavy criticism from a cross section of Ghanaians especially New Patriotic Party members. Michael Okyere Baafi when responding to the agitation from a good number of Ghanaians calling for the dismissal of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta over abysmal performance including intense pressure from NPP members of Parliament, he described those making the call are have no basis and jealous of Ken Ofori-Atta. This comment didn’t go down well with Ghanaians including NPP members and some of his colleague MPs. He has come under heavy bashing from the public.

He had another opportunity to appear on Adom TV Morning Show the following day and appealed to the Host Akwesi Nsiah to give him an opportunity to clarify an incident that happened a day before on another network. He was given the opportunity to clarify himself and his attempt to do so, he lied on that show by denying that he didn’t refer to Ghanaians calling for the head of Ken Ofori-Atta but instead he was responding to his colleague MP George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan with whom he appeared on the show as guests. Ghanaba News will like to place on record that we monitored both show and can confidently say Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi lied on Adom TV by saying he didn’t called out Ghanaians calling for Finance Minister’s dismissal as jealous people. We have impeded videos of statements he made on both networks for our readers to make their own judgement.

In Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi’s attempt to claim on Adom TV that his colleague George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan tried to tarnish the image of Ken Ofori-Atta on TV 3 program hence his statement was in reference to Ricketts-Hagan but not Ghanaians in it entirety is never true. He failed to point out the exact statement Ricketts-Hagan made which seeks to attack the personality of the Finance Minister Ken Ofor-Atta. Ghanaba News will also like to place on record that the Host Roland Walker even offered him the opportunity by asking him direct question that who is he referring to with which Michael Okyere Baafi responded he doesn’t know so what is he talking about here. Ministers of state must be bold enough to stand up to their own statement when they are confronted with it.
