The chief of Akyemfo Ankaful, Nana Kwame Ntsiful has pledged to fetch water for a contractor to build a six unit classroom for the children of the area. According to the chief, their children had to walk over two kilometers to attend basic school at Saltpond. He has pledged his full support to the contractor who has been awarded the contract to build the school in four months instead of the six months project duration. Nana said because of long distance their children had to cover to attend basic school, most of them are not able to enroll in school at early age since they had to grow to age where they can walk before they are enroll in school.
The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency Ekow Kwansah Hayford has urged the people of Akyemfo Ankaful to change their way of voting. He is urging them to vote massively for the him and the New Patriotic Party come 2020 election. He said the people of Akyemfo Ankaful have been voting for NDC for the past twenty-seven years but can’t boast of single basic school to educate their children. He has lobbied Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) to build six unit classroom block for the people. Today’s sod-cutting is an indication that Ekow Kwansa Hayford is fulfilling promises made to the people. He expressed gratitude to GNPC for accepting to build classroom for the people.
The Acting head for Environment and Social Amenities at Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation Lubaa Habib Jawula said the foundation believes in education as best legacy which can bring transformation and development to a community. She praised the people of Akyemfo Ankaful for making provision of water at the project site. She has promised to discuss with management to consider provision of toilet facility to be added to the project since, it doesn’t have one. She ended by encouraging the chief and his elders to support the contractor with necessary help to enable him complete the project on schedule.
