The NCCE Municipal Director –Danabsin Naandam explained that the rule of law and public accountability are fundamental pillars of sustainable democratic governance and sustainable development. Public accountability operates when state institutions and public office holders act within the law, provide information, justify their decisions, and deliver quality social services responsibly.

And citizens on the other hand have corresponding duty to seek for information, monitor public actions, question decisions made, and hold duty bearers accountable through lawful and participatory means. Effective governance is therefore achieved when empowered citizens engage constructively with responsive institutions within a framework which is anchored in transparency and respect for the rule of law.
