The Paramount Chief of Komenda Traditional Area, Okatakyi Komeh VIII has made appeal on behalf of his people to President John Dramani Mahama to do operationalize the idle Komenda Sugar Factory to kick start his much publicized 24hour economy which is to be job creation game changer for Ghana. He made the appeal in an interview with Ghanabanews.com when President Mahama visited Central Region with his entourage to express the NDC party and government gratitude to the chiefs and the people of Central Region’s massive endorsement during December 7 general election. Okatakyi Komeh VIII also used the occasion to notify the President not to forget their roads as the dusty nature of the road is also leading to respiratory health related complications to his citizens. The Paramount Chief ended by expressing their gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating their daughter Prof. Naana Jane Opoku as his running mate which has made her the first female Vice President for Ghana. He pledged the traditional council’s support to his government to succeed.
The Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA), Samuel Atta Mills also added his voice by thanking President Mahama for assuring the people of the Central Region and especially KEEA constituency of his government willingness to operationalize the factory. Samuel Atta Mills blamed Former President Akufo-Addo for deliberately refusing to operationalize the factory in eight years of his governance. He believes President Mahama will operationalize the factory to create jobs for the teaming unemployed youth of the area and Ghana to get jobs to do.
President John Dramani Mahama when addressing the chiefs and the people of the Central Region, has assured them of his government determination to operationalize Komenda Sugar Factory to create employment for Ghanaians. President John Dramani Mahama has demanded a report from Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to know the real state of the factory so government can take decision on the operationalization of the factory.
